Davenell Frederick "Dav" Whatmore (born 16 March 1954) is a Sri Lankan-born former Australian cricketer and current coach. A right-handed batsman, Whatmore played seven Test matches for Australia in 1979, and one One Day International in 1980. At first-class level, he scored over 6,000 runs for Victoria. Since the 1990s, Whatmore has coached the Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan national cricket teams. In December 2014, he was appointed coach of the Zimbabwe team. ==Early life== Whatmore was born in Ceylon (now known as Sri Lanka) and was educated at Royal College, Colombo. He and his family migrated to Australia in 1962.Thereafter he lived in Mentone, a suburb of Melbourne and studied at Mentone Grammar School.〔(Dav Whatmore Up close and personal )〕
